The Challenge

Not The Curry makes authentic Indian gravy bases, biryani masala pastes and ready curries for two very different buyers: professional HORECA kitchens that order in volume, and home cooks who want a restaurant-style curry in minutes. The brand had strong product and packaging, but no storefront that explained the difference between a white gravy base, a bhuna masala paste and a finished ready curry — so visitors landed, got confused about what to buy first, and left.

The catalogue was also growing quickly across North Indian and South Indian ranges, gravy bases, regional bases and kitchen essentials. Every new flavour needed its own product page, the right collection, clear pack sizes and pricing, and food photography that actually made people hungry. The team wanted to run all of that themselves — new SKUs, offers and content — without waiting on a developer, and it had to feel fast on mobile, where most of the traffic sits.

The Solution

We built the store on Shopify with a customised OS 2.0 theme, then rebuilt the homepage as a set of reusable sections so the brand can reorder, duplicate and relaunch merchandising blocks on its own.

  • Custom Shopify OS 2.0 theme using the red, cream and spice palette straight from the packaging
  • Appetite-first homepage: full-width hero, a "Why Choose Not The Curry" block, shop-by-category tiles and curated flavour rows
  • Separate collection rows for North Indian ready curries, North Indian gravy bases and South Indian culinary, each editable from the theme editor
  • Product templates with metafields for pack size, shelf life, serving suggestions and usage notes
  • Collection filtering and sorting so buyers can narrow down by cuisine, base type and price in a couple of taps
  • Wishlist, quick-add and a sticky mobile add-to-cart for faster repeat ordering
  • Trust blocks next to the buy button: real reviews, "ready in minutes" and quality-ingredient badges
  • Email subscribe capture in the hero and footer for launch offers and restock alerts
  • Compressed WebP food imagery, lazy loading and a trimmed app stack for quick mobile load times
  • On-page SEO: a clean collection structure, keyword-led titles and meta descriptions, product schema and internal linking
  • Policy, contact and about pages wired into Shopify's shipping, returns and checkout settings
